About Me

Background

I’m Yu-Hsin Chou (周玉鑫), a first-year master student studying Computer Science at National Taiwan University. Previously, I received a B.S. degree in the Computer Science department of National Chiao Tung University (NCTU). I diversified my learning at NCTU, including user experience, business, and marketing, while working on various projects to gain ideas from fields outside Computer Science.

I code and write. I started my programming journey since junior high school. At that time, I was involved in building websites and creating themes in WordPress. Later on, programming competitions became my focus, where I participated in Taiwan Olympiad in Informatics and ICPC competitions. Beyond that, I have several experiences in full-stack development. For writing, I ran a blog during my senior high school to share thoughts on building websites.

During exposures to various fields, I decided to focus on Computer Science research, especially Machine Learning started from 2021.

What is Before Mkfs?

Before Mkfs is a blog for organizing, recording, and sharing my thoughts. There would possibly be posts for living, reading and ideas. The term “Before Mkfs” comes from the linux command mkfs which means creating a file system. I called this blog this way is to encourage me to think more before making a decision.
